An Open Letter from Head Coach & Owner Bo Cheesman
Iron Fans,
Today, we drop the puck on something special.
On behalf of our entire organization, I want to personally welcome you to the Danville Iron family. We are fired up to bring a new era of junior hockey to Danville and to build a team this community can be proud of for years to come.
From day one, our vision has been simple: build a first-class hockey organization that plays with the same grit and blue-collar heart this city was built on. The name says it all. The Iron honors the hands that built Danville — and that’s exactly the brand of hockey we’re going to put on the ice.
When you walk into the David S. Palmer Arena this season, you’ll see a whole lot more than a hockey game. You’ll feel an atmosphere built on passion, energy, and community. Our guys will battle for every inch, wear the Iron crest with pride, and understand the responsibility that comes with representing this city.
As fans, here’s what you can expect from your Danville Iron.
Relentless effort. Every time we hit the ice, you’ll see players who work hard, compete harder, and never quit on a shift. We’ll forecheck with purpose, block shots, and grind until the final horn.
Player development. As a USPHL Premier club, we’re committed to moving young athletes up the ladder — on the ice and off it. Junior hockey is a launching pad to college and beyond, and we’re building a culture that develops players the way the American game is meant to: with accountability, leadership, and professionalism. These 16-to-20-year-olds are chasing the next level, and our job is to get them there.
Family-friendly entertainment. An Iron game is built to be a night out for everyone. From the pregame intros to fan engagement between whistles to great hockey under the lights, we want every fan walking out of the Palmer already counting down to the next home tilt.
Community first. The Iron are more than a hockey team — we’re part of Danville. Our players and staff will be out in the community all season, supporting local businesses, schools, youth programs, and charitable organizations. Growing the game at the grassroots level is a core part of who we are.
A team you can be proud of. We know your support is earned, not given. We promise to represent Danville with class, integrity, and a commitment to excellence every single day.
The foundation is being laid, and we couldn’t be more excited about what’s ahead. Whether you’ve followed the game your whole life or you’re lacing up for your very first puck drop, we invite you to join us as we start this journey together.
